Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Alex Aspinall received his BSc.Hon (Life Sciences) from Queen’s University (Kingston, Ontario). He completed his Ph.D. in Immunology (with a focus in Gastrointestinal Immunology) at the University of Calgary. He did post-doctoral fellowship training in Immunology at the Basel Institute for Immunology (Basel, Switzerland) and completed another AHFMR-funded post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Calgary while completing Medical School there. He completed Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training at the University of Calgary. That was followed by a CIHR-CASL funded Research and Clinical Fellowship in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at the University of Birmingham (U.K.).
Dr. Aspinall is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Calgary. He served previously as the Gastroenterology Site Lead at the South Health Campus and currently leads the Viral Hepatitis Clinic at the South Health Campus. He serves as the Hepatology Section Lead for the Royal College of Physicians of Surgeons of Canada Gastroenterology Examination Board. He previously served as the University of Calgary Hepatology Fellowship Program Director and has won numerous teaching awards at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. |
